Kajol Devgen(Mukherhee)
| |
She was just married on the 24 of Feburary | and also Kajol Mukherjee is one of the best and most beautiful actresses present today in Bollywood. Since her debut in the Bollywood arena in 1992 in the film Bekhudi she has played a wide variety of roles varying from the lovely bride in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge to the violent villain in the film Gupt. She is an actress whose body language, grace and charm has won her millions of fans all over the world. That is also the reason why I rate Kajol as the " Number One " actresses in todays film industry. Not only is she the No. 1 but she is all from " One to Ten ". The rest follow after her.

The Reveiw
| |
Movie Review | It's the deadliest beginning a Hindi film has had in the last few years. Karan Johar, self-confessed hankie-movie addict, goes straight for the tear ducts, in the first 15 minutes of his first film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He succeeds. And how! Tina (Rani Mukherjee) is dying, handing over her week-old baby to husband Rahul Khanna (Shah Rukh Khan, not Rahul Khanna). She gives her mother-in-law eight letters about herself, to be delivered to the child, on eight consecutive birthdays. That done, she cops it. Leaving husband, mother-in-law and you, in tears. Cut to the eighth birthday. And the last letter. Which tells little Anjali (precocious Sana Saeed) about what a great time her parents had in college. And about Rahul's 'college ke pehle hi din se' best friend, Anjali (Kajol). Flashback to a Riverdale type college, complete with a Weatherbeeish principal - Mr Malhotra (no first name, played by Anupam Kher). Anjali and Rahul are best friends. Anjali is the typical tomboy, who beats Rahul at every game of basketball. Enter Tina, the principal's daughter. Rahul, skirt-chaser in general, flips for Tina and falls in love for the first time. Complications follow. Anjali, only best buddy to date, begins to harbour feelings for Rahul. While Rahul gets certain about his feelings for Tina. In a brilliantly executed scene, Anjali decides to don makeup, to look as `feminine' as Tina, but ends up as the laughing stock of the college. Classic Hindi movie situation. The day Anjali decides to tell Rahul that she loves him, he wants to tell Anjali that he is going to tell Tina that he loves HER. Rahul speaks first. Anjali makes a face, shuts up, and leaves town. Leaving Rahul for Tina and a red dupatta. Some symbol that's never explained. The last letter ends with Tina, telling little Anjali that she must get Rahul and the other Anjali together. The slightly laborious second half of the film focuses on how an eight-year-old, with some help from her grand mother and no help from a twisted fellow, Mr Almeida (Johnny Lever), gets the two to fall in love at a children's summer camp. There is a twist in the tale, with Salman Khan - pre-black-buck days - in a special appearance. [But, I'd much rather not spoil the fun for you.] The story is pretty much let's-please-all-the-people-all-the-time. What wins the day for Kuch Kuch..., easily one of the best movies of the year, is the conviction with which it's made. Young Karan Johar knows his Hindi cinema inside out and makes full use of it. The first half of the film - the college bits - are breezy and fantastic. The screenplay moves at breakneck speed, aided by some taut editing. Only in the second half, the film spins out of control. Ironically, it's this half where the script had more potential. Karan Johar is a director in command. The fact that he has also written the story, screenplay and dialogue, helps. Lusciously shot by Santosh Thundyil, the film has sets by Sharmishtha Roy. The kind you want to keep looking at, if you ever get bored with the actors. Which is a possibility, with Shah Rukh Khan hamming to the hilt. But Rani Mukherjee looks like a million bucks and stands her ground among a talented cast. And then there is Kajol. So exceptionally natural, that it's a brilliant performance, even by her standards. And if you need another excuse to see the film, there is the child actor, Parzan Dastur. Doesn't speak a word, but conveys a thousand words with his eyes. Makes you very Khush Khush about Kuch Kuch... Music Reveiw THE MUSIC REVEIW IS BEING RE-VAMPED! AND IT WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON
